I have a friend who I absolutely adore but she really pisses me off sometimes.

You see, she recently went from a size 22 to a size 10 by doing Lighter Life (a diet where you only eat the prepared food packs and only get 500 calories a day) and, while I know it wasn't all easy sailing for her, she did it with very little effort (lost around 5 stone in 8 months).

I on the other hand have managed a grand total of 9 pounds in 3 months and have struggled to lose every single one of them.  While I'm unbelievably happy and proud, for both her health and her sanity, that she has lost the weight, if she doesn't stop telling me that she feels fat and hates her stomach,  I am going to end up saying something that both of us will regret.

I know it's going to take time for her to change her mental image of her own body and I feel incredibly selfish for saying it but I just want her to stop and consider my feelings in all this.  She's been unbelievably supportive through my own weight-loss endeavour and celebrates every lost pound with me which I appreciate that more than she will ever know, but hearing someone who has dropped 6 dress sizes and 5 stone tell me they still feel fat just makes 13 stone 10, size18-20 me feel even fatter and more horrible!

*sighs*  Think what you will of me for feeling this way but that the way it is (believe me, it's nothing I haven't thought of myself)

Urgh. Lighter Life is horrendously medically unsound and just so stupid that it makes my head hurt just thinking about it.

Anyway. Talking your friend how you feel would be good for both of you. She sounds like she needs reassurance and to think about what she says a bit more and you need to stop comparing yourself to other people. Everybody is different. Only your weight loss and health matter.

You're doing really well.:)
